Mystic | Maria Vidal Moreno

My friend Beatriz Tejerina and I created these characters and their world when we were 12 years old. Several years later we tried to recover the story, but it was a failure. What can you do with a story full of clichés, teenage drama and too many resurrections that you are very fond of? This is Mystic: The rewritten adventure, a medieval teenage parody full of epicness, magic and some occasional bad jokes.

During the month of October 2019 I made some illustrations on paper and pen to illustrate this story. Come on in and meet Princess, Maid and Prince!

Iddiel was the most powerful kingdom. A strong, great and prosperous kingdom.

It was governed by an equally strong and powerful marriage loved by all.

They were really good governors and they strictly carried out their marital duties.

And they conceived a prince and a princess. King and Queen ordered that they were educated by an immortal wise man to become powerful and strong governors who could reason and build strong arguments.

They gave him some friends so he could train and be prepared for war.

And they gave her the opportunity to delight everyone with her lovely and princessly music talent.

Well, and they also gave her one friend. The ninth daughter of a duke who didn’t know what to do with her and left her in the door extremely excited to serve the kingdom (and the princess).

Maid helped her stay very focused on her studies.

Maid also helped her improve her music skills.

Maid was also a good sewing companion. That’s something that any powerful princess needs.

She was such a good maiden, that the general of the kingdom's army decided to train her secretly during the winter. She was to become the deadliest bodyguard for the princess.

Unfortunately, the one who needed a bodyguard was not Princess but Queen.

The murderer was never found, so several service members took the blame by order of King.

And some months later, the kingdom celebrated a ball for the sixteenth birthday of Princess.

But not every ball is perfect. In the middle of the fun, King was kidnapped.

The best men in the kingdom were sent into the wild night in a quick and effective rescue mission.

The rescue had a sad ending but, while fighting for their lives, Princess and Maid found two mystical weapons that had been lost for centuries.

They returned to the castle and...
